This is a two year Yoga Teacher Training that is based on a philosophy and approach to Yoga developed by Vanda Scaravelli (‘Awakening the Spine’).

“It is not so much the performance of the exercises that matters, but rather the way we are doing them.”

It is a process or journey based on good preparation rather than where we are going to end up. It encourages a practise that is led by the intuitive, ancient brain. Its tools are the flow of the breath, gravity, the wave (connected with the supple movement of extension along the spine).

Learn to:

  • Listen to the body
  • Work with the body, not against it
  • Work in ways that avoid effort and strain
  • Practise with an intention of kindness and compassion

The aim of the course is that the student’s personal and professional development based on experiential and reflective learning will be reflected in a Yoga Teacher who:

  • Through their teaching demonstrates their understanding of both ancient principles of Yoga as well as the philosophy that underpins this approach to Yoga.
  • Is able to be both reflective and flexible.
  • Is able to teach safely and understands how to safely adapt these principles to support the needs and development of the students and the individual student in the Western world.
  • Understands that their journey as a teacher is just beginning.
  • Demonstrates that understanding and knowledge comes through self-study, and the practise based on truthfulness and non-violence.

Graduates of a School on the Yoga Register (YRS) are entitled to use the letters YRT (Yoga Register Teacher) and benefit from a discounted subscription rate of £25 for annual entry on The Yoga Register.
