Help with Applying for Registration
Teacher Registration
If approached methodically, application for registration is relatively
straightforward.
Firstly, make sure you have got the right registration for you out of the four
alternatives. To do this, follow steps 1 - 6 below.
[1] If you have a certificate from a teacher training school, check if your
school is registered with The Yoga Register. All currently YR registered schools
are listed on
http://www.theyogaregister.org/schools/index.htm.
(Because a school is registered with some other body does not mean that it
is automatically registered with the Yoga Register.)
[2] If your school appears on the list, print out YR-101 on
http://www.theyogaregister.org/registration/registration.htm by clicking the
"Printer Friendly Version" icon which is located just above the top left of the
right hand window. Fill in the form and send it by snail mail to IYN at the
address given on the form. (We require a real signature, so snail-mail has
to be used.) Please use the tick boxes which enable you to specify which
information you want to appear on the YR web site. The one-page form is
self-explanatory and easy to fill in.
[3] If your school is not listed as YR registered, then you have a choice of
using either YR-102, Teacher Certified by a Non-YR Registered School, or YR-103,
Teacher with Independent Training and Experience. Both of these routes are
necessarily more complicated than the registered school route and this might
incite you to ask your school to become a YR registered school and a member of
IYN! In practice, we are finding that more people with a non-YR registered
certificate use YR-103 than YR-102, so look at this one first. The printed
forms have tick boxes to help you make sure you have supplied all the
information we need, and working methodically through these should help you
submit a full application. The core of both of these types of application is
the submission based on Sections 1 - 4. This is not as daunting as it at first
looks, but if you get stuck, please give us a call - Pete Yates, 01902 424048,
yates@heartyoga.co.uk. If you
have 5000 hours teaching experience and a
non-YR registered certificate, registering as a Yoga Elder (YR-104) is your
easiest option.
[4] If you do not have a certificate from a teacher training school, you need
to determine whether you should use YR-103, Teacher with Independent Training
and Experience, or YR- 104, Yoga Elder.
[5] If you can log-up 5000 hours of teaching, then you can register as a Yoga
Elder and this is fairly straight-forward. We realise that you might not recall
exact details of teaching you did 20 years ago and are happy with a record
like " 1980, 20 classes @ 2 hours @YMCA Smallville = 40 hours".
[6] If you find that you haven't done 5000 hours of teaching, then you need to
work through YR-103. If you get stuck, don't hesitate to contact us. Pete Yates, 01902 424048,
